Berean
Missions
Cheyenne
Berean is committed to missions. It is our desire to use our
missions gifting wisely so that the Good News of Jesus Christ is
spread around the world. For us missions is reaching as far
with the gospel as the Lord allows us. Both our neighborhoods
and the farthest reaches of the world are the objects of our
missionary concern.
India
a
Missions Focus
CBC
continues to be in heavily involved in 300-in-3; the goal of
recruiting, training and sending 300 Indian church planters
throughout India in three years. In the summer of 2006 with the
launching of that round of schools we will reach our goal.
Currently there are about 80 churches, 340 life groups and 200
pastors and students as a result of the combined efforts of the
churches in USA Berean.
Adopt a
Missionary
Have you
ever thought of adopting a missionary into your focus group or
even your family? Is your Christmas and other holidays shared
with a missionary family? Adopting a missionary is easy. You
ask God for the wisdom needed to make the choice. You might
want to consider things such as the area of the world, the
missions ministry, and the ages of the children. After you have
made your decision, find out such important family facts
as anniversaries, birthdays, clothing sizes, reading
preferences, etc. Then treat them as part of your family
throughout the year in your gift giving, prayers,
correspondence, etc. But please! Do this as a service to the
Lord and don’t impose unrealistic expectations upon your adopted
missionary. This should be an act of grace that demands nothing
in return.
Make Their
Day
Want to make their day? Try writing them a
letter. What do you write
about? Try writing about your family and friends. Describe
what’s happening in the various areas of your lives: spiritual,
physical, social, vocational, etc. Don’t forget to put in news
about Cheyenne, and the world around you. Another good subject
is your church. Be positive! What’s happening in the different
ministries? Ask the missionary questions about their work, but
don’t make your message all questions. Let the missionary know
your prayer requests. Missionaries appreciate humor. Share a
joke, enclose a page for Reader’s Digest, or relate a funny
incident that happened to you. Send cards for special
occasions. Include news clippings, church bulletins, or
photographs in your letters.
Send a
Shoe Box
What could you send your missionary in a
small box? Slippers, stamps (for U.S.A. missionaries), Vitamin
C, earrings, hair bows, paperback books , dish cloths, hand
towels, pens, pencils, paper clips, post-it notes, thank you
notes, magazines, Christian videos, music tapes, kool-aid, jello,
pudding, chocolate chips, devotionals like Daily Bread, nice
napkins, iron-on patches, twix candy bars, quick mixes,
concentrated juice, little toys, etc.
Short Term
Missions
In recent
years the Cheyenne Berean family have had several from the
church go on
short term mission trips to
such diverse places as Indonesia, Germany, Uganda, Brazil,
Alaska, and Russia. More locally, others have spent the summer
ministering with Child Evangelism Fellowship, Maranatha Bible
Camp, and other mission endeavors.
Designated
Giving to Missions
When you want to
designate to a special missions project, or person it is your
responsibility to clearly attach a notation to your gift. This
can be done on a separate piece of paper, on your check, or on
an offering envelope. Always clearly indicate your desire for
your gift. Include specifics such as your name, the project
name, the amount designated to the missionary project, the
amount that is for your general giving, etc. Never assume that
because you have given in a certain pattern that the office
personnel can remember your habits. Every gift has to be
clearly marked.
