Wedding Policy

Cheyenne Berean Church

A Christian Wedding

1. The staff at Cheyenne Berean considers it a privilege to assist you in your wedding plans.
2. As the traditional wedding ceremony reminds us, “Marriage is an honorable estate, instituted by God, regulated by His commandments and blessed by His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Because marriage has been established by God for the welfare and happiness of mankind it is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, and in the fear of God.”
3. We are committed to providing Christian counseling and a Christian wedding ceremony that will enable those being married to have every advantage as they start a new life together in Christ.
4. Scripture warns about premarital sexual intimacy. Statistics bear this out. The percentage of those who divorce dramatically increases if they have been involved in premarital activity. Therefore all couples will be required to enter into a purity covenant.
5. As you are probably aware, there are various Biblical approaches to the difficult subject of divorce and remarriage. Here at Cheyenne Berean each pastor has the liberty to follow his conscience in this area. If you have been previously married, please be gracious and understand that the situation requires that you find out a pastor’s particular view.

Christian Counseling

1. Because the staff and Elder Team at Cheyenne Berean Church believe that it is important that every marriage has a good and godly start, a minimum of six counseling sessions is required of any couple being married in the Cheyenne Berean Church building or by a member of the CBC staff.
2. The couples should be able to clearly give testimony to their faith in Christ and demonstrate a growing relationship with Him.
3. The content of the sessions and counselor must be approved by one of the staff pastors.
4. Topics that may be included in the counseling are:

__ “Before I Say I Do” video series
__ “So You’re Getting Married” video series
__ “Choosing Wisely” video series
__ "Fireproof" a marriage
__ Prepare and Meyers & Briggs Evaluations
__ Finances
__ Resolving Conflicts
__ Personality Styles
__ Parenting Skills
__ Spiritual Growth
__ Marital Intimacy
__ Making a Marriage Last
__ What Happens When a Marriage Fails
__ Special request or need _______________

5. Marriage is a wonderful experience when it is entered into carefully and in dependence upon the Spirit of God. It is God’s chosen gift to bring extreme happiness to His children when He is in control of their lives. When selfishness characterizes a marriage, that union can become one of life’s greatest burdens
6. Marriage is a perfect time to ncommit yourself to the purity of marriage and also to recommit yourself to the giver of marriage, the Lord Jesus Christ!
7. May the Lord richly bless you as you plan for your marriage.
