Sing to the King
who is coming to reign
Glory to Jesus the
Lamb that was slain
Life and
Salvation, His empire shall bring
And joy to the
nations when Jesus is King
Come Let us sing a
song
A song declaring
we belong to Jesus
He’s all we need
Lift up a heart of
praise
Sing now with
voices raised to Jesus
Sing to the King
For His returning
we watch and pray
We will be ready
the dawn of that day
We’ll join in
singing with all the redeemed
When Satan is
vanquished and Jesus is King.
“Sing
to the King” is a call to worship the one and only God who has given
us all that we need to experience victory in this life. There will
really come a time when our Savior will come and reign on the earth,
but until that time we are called to be in a status of change.
2 Peter 1:3, His
divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness
through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and
goodness.
Second Peter holds
some amazing truths about our root system in Jesus Christ. In
Christ you and I have all that we need for “life and godliness”.
That covers just about everything in our lives. “Life” is the junk
that happens day to day in our lives and God wants control of that
part. “Godliness” is that part of our life that we strive to be
more like the one who began a good work in our lives in the first
place.
2 Peter 1:4,
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,
so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and
escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
Throughout the
scriptures we see God calling for change to take place in our
lives. Later in chapter one of second Peter, Peter says that
because of the promises that we have in the scriptures we are to
“participate in the divine nature”.
2 Peter 1:5-9, For
this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; and to knowledge,
self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and
to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly
kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you
possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you
from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is
nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed
from his past sins.
The Bible says
that “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night”. We
should be living as though He is coming soon, watching and praying,
in a sense getting ready for a special occasion. Today, I should be
ironing my best clothes for that awesome day that I will be united
with Jesus Christ. Until that day, may we remain in Him being
effective and productive in the body of Christ!
Have you forgotten
that you were cleansed from your past sins? I pray today that your
heart would “sing to the King” and wake up to the reality of living
in Christ.
